# Headcount

> Compare budgeted establishment posts with filled headcount and vacancy.

## Overview

Headcount helps people teams see budgeted posts versus people in post. Open **Headcount** (`/hr/headcount`).

Add establishment posts with a title, budgeted count, and optional department. For department posts, filled is the count of active people in that department who have an employee HR record. Vacancy is budgeted minus filled (never below zero). Posts without a department keep budget only; fill is tracked on department posts.

Totals show budgeted, filled against budget, and vacant across the list.
