# Internal moves

> Record promotions, secondments, and department transfers without a rehire.

## Overview

Internal moves let people teams update someone’s job title, department, and line manager without running a rehire. Open the person in **Employee records**, then use the **History** tab.

Choose a move type (promotion, secondment, department transfer, or other), set the effective date, and apply the change. Job title updates also append to employment history. If re-onboarding is needed, tick the request flag and start a pack from **Onboarding** afterwards.
