# People overview

> See live headcount, joiners, tenure, and other workforce figures on People home.

## Where to find it

Open **People** (`/hr`). The workforce section sits at the top of People home. Figures come from employee records in your organisation. They are not generated from the internet or from AI.

You need permission to view or manage HR records.

## What you can see

Choose a time period and, if you want, a department. Campsite recalculates the figures from current records:

| Figure | What it measures |
| - | - |
| Headcount | People in post at the end of the selected period |
| Joiners | Employment starts in the period |
| Leavers | Employment ends, completed offboarding, or archive dates in the period (only people who had a start date) |
| Average tenure | Average service length of people in post who have a start date |
| FTE | Full-time equivalent of people in post |
| Turnover | Leavers divided by average headcount for the period |
| Vacancy | Budgeted establishment posts minus filled posts, when you use [Headcount](/docs/features/hr/headcount) |
| Upcoming joiners | Employment starts in the next 90 days |

People without an employment start date still count in headcount and FTE. They are excluded from joiners, leavers, and average tenure until a start date is set on the [employee record](/docs/features/hr/records). People home shows a short note when any in-post records are missing a start date.

Each figure sits in a tile on People home and shows how it compares with the previous matching period.

## Time periods

Use the period control to switch between This week, Future, 7D, 14D, 30D, 3M, 6M, 12M, and year to date (YTD).

* **This week** is Monday through today.
* **Future** looks at starts and ends still ahead, up to 12 months.
* **YTD** is 1 January through today, compared with the same dates last year.

The URL keeps the selected period and department so you can bookmark a view.

## Charts

* **Joiners over time** plots employment starts in the selected period (by day, week, or month depending on the range).
* **Headcount by department** shows people in post by department. **Headcount by location** uses the work location on the employee record (office, remote, or hybrid).
