# Probation

> Track probation end dates, mid and end reviews, and pass, extend, or fail outcomes.

## Overview

Probation tracking helps people teams see who is approaching a probation end and record the outcome on the employee file.

Open **Probation** (`/hr/probation`) for upcoming and overdue ends (next 60 days). Open the person to work on the Job tab probation tracker.

## Reviews and outcomes

On the employee file Job section:

1. Record a **mid** or **end** review when conversations happen.
2. Set outcome to **Pass**, **Extend**, or **Fail**.
3. Extending requires a new end date later than the current one and reopens the probation check until that date.

Existing probation alerts on People home and HR metric notifications continue to surface due and overdue ends.
