# Staff surveys

> Create staff surveys, invite people in the workspace or by email, and review responses.

## What surveys are for

Staff surveys help people teams gather structured feedback from members of the organisation. Create a form, invite people in the workspace or by email, then review completion and per-question results.

Surveys are best for engagement pulses, wellbeing check-ins, culture feedback, and other one-off or recurring staff questionnaires. They are separate from broadcast polls, which stay as single-question choices on a broadcast.

## Where to find surveys

| Role | Path |
| - | - |
| People / HR admins | `/hr/surveys` |
| Staff | `/surveys` (My surveys) |

Surveys appear in the People workspace when the module is enabled for your organisation. Contact Campsite support if you need it turned on.

## Building a survey

1. Open **Surveys** from the People sidebar (`/hr/surveys`).
2. Click **New survey** and give it a title.
3. Use **Edit questions**. The survey title sits in the editor header. Add fields from the left palette:
   * Section title
   * Short text and paragraph
   * Yes / No
   * Single choice and multiple choice
   * Rating scale
   * NPS (0-10)
4. Select a question to edit its label, help text, and options. Anonymous responses, multiple submissions, and a close date sit under Survey options.
5. Click **Save**, then **Publish** when the form is ready.

## Distributing a survey

On an **Active** survey:

1. Choose the channel: in-app, email, or both.
2. Choose the audience: all active members, or selected people.
3. For email, customise the subject and message. Campsite sends org-branded email with a link back into the take-survey page.
4. Click **Send invitations**.

Invited staff see open surveys under **My surveys** (`/surveys`) and in Command-K search.

## Completing a survey

1. Open **My surveys** or the email CTA.
2. Answer the required questions.
3. Click **Submit response**.

If the survey is anonymous, the response is stored without attaching your name to analytics.

## Analytics

The survey detail page shows:

* Invited, completed, and completion rate
* Per-question breakdowns for choices, Yes/No, rating averages, NPS averages, and text samples

## Export

People teams with survey view permission can download CSV files from the tools menu (wrench):

* On **Surveys** (`/hr/surveys`), choose **Export all surveys** for the full list (title, status, response and invitation counts, dates).
* On a survey, choose **Export responses**, **Export invitations**, or **Export analytics**.

Anonymous surveys omit names and email addresses from response and invitation files. Named surveys include them. Exports include up to 2,000 responses and 5,000 invitations.

## Deleting a survey

People teams with survey manage permission can delete a draft or live survey from the survey tools menu (wrench). Confirm in the drawer, then Campsite returns you to **Surveys**. Deleting a survey also removes its invitations and responses. This cannot be undone.

View-only users can export data but cannot delete a survey.

## Permissions

| Permission | Who typically has it |
| - | - |
| `surveys.view` | Org admins and managers |
| `surveys.manage` | Org admins and managers |
| `surveys.respond` | All active roles by default |

Use Roles & permissions to adjust these for your organisation.
