Your role is assigned by your Super Admin. You cannot change your own role or grant yourself additional permissions. If you believe your role is incorrect, contact your Super Admin or HR team.
The role ladder
The table below summarises each role, its position in the hierarchy, and the key areas it can access. Roles are ordered from highest to lowest authority.| Role | Summary | Key Access |
|---|---|---|
| Super Admin | Full control over the entire organisation’s workspace and configuration. | Org settings and branding, all member management, all broadcasts, full rota and scheduling, all HR records, hiring pipeline, finance and payroll configuration, department and role management. |
| Senior Manager | Broad, cross-department authority with access to most operational areas. | Broadcast composition and sending across departments, rota management and approvals, leave and attendance oversight, access to approval queues spanning multiple departments. |
| Manager | Department-scoped authority for day-to-day people management. | Broadcasts to own department, department rota creation and shift management, approval of new member requests within their department, leave and absence handling. |
| Coordinator | Operational support within a single department, with limited send access. | Send broadcasts to own department, read-only view of the rota, task and calendar visibility relevant to their department. |
| Assistant | Can draft communications but cannot publish independently. | Draft broadcasts (requires Manager or above to approve before sending), view broadcasts feed, access own calendar and rota. |
| Weekly Paid Staff | Front-line staff with personal access to their own work information. | Receive and read broadcasts, view own shifts and rota, manage calendar, submit leave requests, manage channel subscriptions, access resource library, use discount card. |
| Society or Club Leader | Targeted broadcast authority scoped to a society or club. | Send broadcasts to members of their society or club only, view their own rota and calendar, access resource library. |
How permissions gate navigation
Campsite’s sidebar and feature areas are dynamically filtered based on your role. If you cannot see a menu item — such as Finance, Hiring, or Admin — it means your current role does not include access to that area. This is by design: you only see the tools that are relevant to your responsibilities. Permission-gated navigation groups include:- Member — available to all roles (broadcasts, rota, calendar, resources).
- Manager — visible to Managers, Senior Managers, and Super Admins (team rota, member approval, department broadcasts).
- HR — visible to HR-enabled roles (employee records, org chart, hiring, onboarding, performance, 1:1s).
- Finance — visible to Finance-enabled roles (payroll, wagesheets, bank details management).
- Admin — visible to Super Admins (members, roles, departments, branding, integrations, settings).
- Compliance — visible to compliance-enabled roles (gov monitor, privacy centre, audit trail).
If you need access to a section that is currently hidden from your navigation, speak to your Super Admin. They can either adjust your role or create a custom role that includes the specific permissions you need.
