Sending a broadcast in Campsite takes just a few steps — write your message, choose who receives it, and either send immediately or schedule it for later. If you’re an Assistant, your draft goes to a Manager for approval before anyone sees it. The composer works the same way on web and mobile, so you can put out an update from wherever you are.

Compose and send a broadcast

1

Open the composer

Navigate to Broadcasts in the sidebar and click New broadcast, or select the compose button (pencil icon) in the top bar. The broadcast composer opens over your feed.
2

Write your message

Use the rich text editor to craft your broadcast. The toolbar gives you access to:
  • Bold and italic formatting
  • Bullet and numbered lists
  • Hyperlinks
  • Headings for longer announcements
Keep your subject line clear — it’s the first thing recipients see in their feed and in the notification preview.
If your broadcast mentions a specific date (for example, an event date or deadline), Campsite will automatically surface an Add to calendar prompt to recipients. No extra steps required on your end.
3

Choose your audience

Under Audience, select one or more broadcast channels and/or departments to target. Your available options depend on your role:
  • Super Admins and Senior Managers can target any channel or the whole organisation.
  • Managers and Coordinators can only target channels within their own department(s).
  • Society or Club Leaders can only target their society or club.
You can combine multiple channels in a single broadcast — for example, sending to both All Staff and Rota Updates at once.
Only members who are subscribed to the channels you select will receive the broadcast. Members who have not subscribed to an optional channel won’t see it in their feed or receive a notification.
4

Schedule (optional)

To send at a future time, toggle Schedule send and pick a date and time. Scheduled broadcasts appear in the feed with a Scheduled status badge and won’t be delivered until the chosen moment. You can edit or cancel a scheduled broadcast before it sends — see Edit a broadcast below.
5

Submit for approval (Assistants)

If your role is Assistant, the send button reads Submit for approval instead of Send. Clicking it forwards your draft to a Manager in the relevant department. The broadcast will not be delivered until a Manager or higher reviews and approves it.You’ll receive a notification when your draft is approved or rejected. If it’s rejected, you can revise and resubmit.
Assistants cannot bypass the approval step. If you need to send urgent communications directly, speak to your Super Admin about adjusting your role permissions.
6

Send

Managers, Coordinators, Senior Managers, and Super Admins see a Send button (or Schedule if a future time was chosen). Click it to publish immediately. The broadcast lands in subscribers’ feeds, triggers an email, and sends a push notification to mobile devices — all at once.

Unread counts and the feed

Once sent, your broadcast appears at the top of every recipient’s feed with an unread indicator. The sidebar badge updates in real time. Recipients can mark broadcasts as read individually or clear all unread items at once from the feed controls. Scheduled broadcasts appear in your own feed with a Scheduled label so you always know what’s queued to go out.

Edit a sent or scheduled broadcast

You can edit a broadcast after it has been sent — for example, to correct a typo or update a date. Open the broadcast from your feed and select Edit from the actions menu. Recipients who have already read the original will see an Edited indicator on the message.
Editing a sent broadcast does not re-trigger email or push notifications. If the change is significant, consider sending a follow-up broadcast to alert recipients.
To cancel a scheduled broadcast before it sends, open the broadcast, click Cancel schedule, and confirm. The draft is preserved so you can reschedule or delete it.
