Managing time off is straightforward in Campsite. You submit leave requests directly in the app, your manager receives an instant notification to review them, and you can track the status of every request in one place. When an unplanned absence happens, the absence reporting tool lets you log it quickly without needing to track anyone down.

Where to find leave

Click Leave in the main sidebar, or navigate to /leave. Your leave dashboard shows all of your current and past leave requests, each with its current approval status.

Submitting a leave request

Go to Leave

Open the Leave section from the sidebar. You’ll see your leave history and any pending requests at a glance.

Click 'New leave request'

Select the New leave request button in the top-right corner of the page. The request form opens in a panel or modal.

Fill in the request details

Complete the form fields:
  • Leave type — select from the types your Super Admin has configured (for example, Annual Leave, Sick Leave, Compassionate Leave, TOIL).
  • Start date — the first day of your leave.
  • End date — the last day of your leave. For a single day, set start and end to the same date.
  • Reason — a brief note explaining the request. Some leave types may make this field optional or required depending on your organisation’s settings.
The leave types available to you are set by your Super Admin under Admin → Leave. If you can’t find the right leave type, ask your manager or HR team to check the configuration.

Submit the request

Click Submit. Your request is logged immediately and your manager receives a notification to review it. You’ll see the request appear in your leave list with a Pending status.

Tracking your leave approval

Each request in your leave list displays one of three statuses:

RejectedYour manager has declined the request — check the notes for a reason
You receive an in-app notification and an email as soon as the status changes. You don’t need to chase anyone — Campsite handles the communication automatically.
Approved leave days appear on your Campsite calendar, so they’re visible alongside your shifts and events. If you have calendar sync enabled, they’ll push through to Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook too.

Reporting an unplanned absence

If you’re unexpectedly unable to work — for example, due to sudden illness — use the Absence Reporting section to log it. You’ll find the link at the bottom of the Leave page in the sidebar. Fill in the date and a brief description of the reason, then submit. Your manager is notified immediately.
Absence reports are not the same as leave requests. An absence report documents an unplanned event that has already occurred or is occurring today. Use a leave request for planned time off in advance.

Admin: leave settings

If you’re a Super Admin or HR admin, leave management settings — including leave types, approval chains, and entitlement rules — are configured in Admin → Leave. Changes made there take effect for all new requests; existing requests are not retroactively affected.
